I could feel the little pull of my heart like God had a rubber band around it that he tugged on with ever growing tension. A little pull back home to the US, a little whisper that I wasn’t fully done with my time with Adventures in Missions.

For the most part I ignored it…….for a couple of reasons.

Number one, I wasn’t sure what would happen, so to boldly proclaim its validity felt risky and could lead to embarrassment. Number two, I didn’t know if that’s what I wanted. I struggle with this idea of being unique and the trajectory of Leader to Squad Leader to Mentor felt too predictable and maybe a little too easy.

But the pull remained. And I told myself that I had little control to define my future until after I was off the field in summer anyway, so why not just see what happens. This is a new maxim of sorts where I’ve decided a 5-year plan in the kingdom is laughable.

About a month and a half ago, I learned that my former mentor, Steph, someone I look up to greatly was placed in a very influential position at Adventures in Missions, one that would allow her to guide and direct our programs and mission in the direction that I personally also feel called to – one of ownership, capability in community, deep faith development and reliance on the Holy Spirit.

The tug on my heart grew.

About a month ago, Steph called me up and offered me a position to mentor the August 2022 squad out for 11 months as well as dedicate a portion of my time to helping the marketing team (couldn’t escape that past too quickly – I hear you Lord).

I said yes on the spot.

So what does that mean?

  • I’ll be moving to Gainesville, GA to work at the AIM base as staff. I’ll need to fundraise my salary.
  • I’ll still have some time on the field about twice a year where I’ll visit my squad in country and I’m with them at the beginning and end in the states. Here I’ll be doing teaching, training and support.
  • While my squad is on the field, I’ll be in charge of leading a collaborative leadership team to guide the process of spiritual formation. I provide support from the base in order to disciple, equip, train and lead them. I uphold and maintain the core values we have at AIM including: hearing God’s voice and moving in obedience, setting the captives free, praying for the sick and living a life of radical faith.

Ok but what does that really mean?

From my heart, I see this role as a rescue mission for God’s people. I am passionate about taking a generation made up of only 4 percent believers into radical depths of faith and submission to Jesus as Lord. A generation plagued by identity issues, substance abuse, selfishness, loneliness and suicide, will see freedom, in Jesus’ name.

And how do we do this? We disciple, train and equip from within. That is my hope for this squad – to produce radical believers who will smear the Holy Spirit all over their generation and beyond.

I believe in this work and the vision God has put on my heart. I’m ready.

For my detail people, here are some practicals I’ll be:

  • Pastoring a group of 36 people who are on the field being discipled, discovering community, getting intimate with Christ and sharing the gospel.
  • Working to figure out their route, help them with travel, coordinate host locations and keep them on budget.
  • Handling the fires that come from personal issues, hard relationship dynamics, sin struggles, concerned parents and points of growth.
  • Loving them and walk with them and pray for them and help them grow into what God has for them.
  • Working with the marketing team to develop opportunities for others to know about our programs so that, frankly, others will know Christ. You guessed it – I went from selling consumer packaged goods to selling Jesus and that product won’t ever go on recall, baby.

I’m excited and extremely humbled knowing that it won’t be me, but Jesus, that completes this work. This is the next step of “Yes” that I’m giving to the one who gave me life.

So many people reading this now are people that have been supporting via prayer, encouragement and finances since I started this journey in 2020. I’ll be following this blog up with another blog sharing my heart behind fundraising and building a support team.

Please pray for me in the meantime as I prepare for this new role and block the enemy’s attempts to discourage or distract me from God’s purposes.

If you’ve read this and are already on board to partner with me financially, great! I’m looking for monthly donors between $300 and $500 per month because this will help me reach my goal the fastest, but all donations are welcome. The reason I’m looking for monthly donors is because I want a support team walking with me consistently in prayer and encouragement, reminded each month of the sacrifice financially to support the gospel being spread and reminded to pray at least each month as that money gets transferred!

And youuuuuuu guessed it. I’ll have some rugs up for sale here soon too. The rug dealer lady is BACK.

Love to you all! Thank you for your unending support and cheerleading. I’ve needed it every step of the way!

As for now, I’m still on the field finishing up leading O squad! We will soon be raising up new squad leaders to replace us. Pray for us as we complete this time well!
